Tractor-Trailers Collide with Car in Salem
After a collision between two tractor-trailers and a car along Interstate 81 in Salem, four people were hospitalized and two people were pronounced dead at the scene. The crash happened at about 8pm on Monday, when a tractor-trailer driving northbound veered into oncoming lanes, crossing the meridian. The Virginia State Police reported the tractor-trailer then hit another tractor-trailer and a car traveling in the southbound lanes. A truck driver and driver of the vehicle were killed due to the impact. The other truck’s driver, a passenger in one of the trucks, and a child and adult from the wrecked car were treated at the hospital for injuries.
According to news reports, one of the tractor-trailers that crashed was carrying a load of sawdust, which had to be completely cleared before the road could be reopened. No information was available concerning the current stage of injuries, but the Virginia Department of Transportation stated traffic was not moving for four miles, however detours were established to reroute vehicles. As a Virginia car accident lawyer, I hope those hurt in this collision heal quickly and my thoughts are with everyone’s families. If you or a loved one were injured in a car accident, a car accident lawyer Virginia can assess your claim.
