Route 50 Reopened After Multiple Crashes

Route 50 was closed for several hours last night due to a serious auto accident. A section of the roadway has now reopened to traffic, according to news reports. The crash happened around 11pm along Route 50, west of Route 197 in Bowie. The crash caused all eastbound lanes to close while emergency crews assisted those who were hurt. One victim was brought to a nearby hospital via helicopter. A two-car wreck sent as few as three people to the hospital, as well. The medical conditions of those hurt in the wrecks is unknown at this time. According to news reports, Route 50′s lanes reopened by 2:40am. The collision remains under investigation by authorities.
