John Sellinger – Medical Malpractice Attorney
John J.Sellinger graduated from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1975
After an initial period of general practice, he has concentrated his efforts in the area of complex civil litigation, with primary emphasis in the representation of injured victims of medical malpractice and defective products. In the past 20 years, John has handled hundreds of medical malpractice and wrongful death cases, involving nearly every medical specialty and injury from birth trauma to dermatology.
John was the youngest President in the history of the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association (MTLA), and continues to sit on the Board of Governors. He has also represented MTLA as its legislative representative in Annapolis. John was one of the founders of the MTLA Political Action Committee (PAC) and has served on the Board of the PAC. He has drafted legislation in the area of litigation that has been enacted into law by the Maryland General Assembly.
John has lectured at the request of the MTLA and the Montgomery County Bar Association. He is a member of the American Association of Justice, and is a member of that group’s Birth Trauma Litigation Group.
Martindale Hubbell has given John Sellinger an “AV” rating – the highest rating an attorney can receive for competence and ethics. John has been voted in the 2008, 2009 , and 2010 editions of Maryland and DC Superlawyers, a very rare distinction, as only 5% of lawyers are voted in.
John Sellinger has been nominated in Maryland (MD) and DC Superlawyers Magazine in 2008, 2009, and 2010. Super Lawyers, an independent magazine adhering to a selection process that is objective and independent of any advertising or payments to nominate its candidates through an elective process that is independent and non political. Lawyers were asked to nominate the best lawyers they’ve personally observed, were not allowed to nominate an internal lawyer without nominating an external lawyer, and lawyers were not allowed to vote for themselves.
Mr. Sellinger resides in Rockville, Maryland, is married, and has five children.
