Car Seat Safety Concerns

May 15th, 2012

As summer approaches, car seat safety is a major concern. Safety experts advise making sure your seats are safe before embarking on any trips. A car seat that is the wrong size can often cause more harm in a collision. Also, buying used car seats is not advised since it is unknown if they were ever involved ian a collision. A certain fire department conducted tests on car seats and found that nine of every ten were not properly installed. “It’s important to know that you can get your car seat checked at many local law enforcement agencies and fire stations. All you have to do is call ahead and schedule a time to come in,” according to news reports.

As a personal injury attorney, I hope that nobody is harmed by an unsafe car seat. I highly recommend having yours checked immediately and making sure they follow certain safety precautions. I often see many accidents that results in injuries just because someone wasn’t properly secured in the vehicle. If you or someone dear to you was harmed in a crash caused by a negligent driver, you may want to reach a personal injury lawyer who can evaluate your case, assess your claim, and answer any questions you may have concerning your case. When you have a lawyer on your side, you are more likely to get the results you deserve for your case.

Husband Files Wrongful Death Suit

May 15th, 2012

A husband is hoping to get $5.35 million in a wrongful death lawsuit he filed after his wife was shot by a police officer in Culpeper. The incident resulted in the death of his 54-year-old wife. He is demanding $5 million in compensatory damages and $350,000 in punitive damages for the shooting, according to news reports. The Virginia State Police are continuing to investigate the shooting, which involved a five-year police department veteran. The suit’s allegations are very different from what the Virginia State Police have described as happening in the shooting which took place over 13 weeks ago. His wife was shot several times in the head by an officer after she did not follow police orders to not roll up her window after getting pulled over, according to the civil suit. “In Virginia, a police officer has no right to inflict serious bodily harm on a person who is simply fleeing arrest for a misdemeanor, much less a person who has committed no crime and who is simply exercising her right to decline to speak with a police officer,” the suit states.

As a personal injury attorney, I look forward to hearing more about this case. If you or a loved one were harmed due to negligence or recklessness, you may want to discuss your claim with an attorney who can evaluate your case and help protect and defend your legal rights.
