Police are alleging that the driver was texting at the time of the wreck, which happened in Utah. A texting while driving ban went into effect in May. The suspect has a history of traffic violations, and is scheduled to appear in court soon. Drivers in Utah are still allowed to make and receive phone calls and use GPS navigation. The law now states drivers have to be looking at their phone for a reason besides calling or GPS to get cited, according to news reports.

11 Hit on Sidewalk in Los Angeles
11 people were hit on a sidewalk in Los Angeles by a 100-year-old driver. The wreck happened across the street from an elementary school. By the time emergency crews arrived, four children were in critical condition, but everyone involved in the crash are expected to survive. The crash happened when the driver of a Cadillac backed into a group of parents and children who were purchasing food from a sidewalk vendor.
