15,328 pounds of frozen country fried steak recently underwent a recall after pieces of plastic were determined to have made it into the product. The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall to include packaged steak made on December 21, 2012 which have a specific mark of inspection and best-by date. The products were distributed to Walmart stores in states such as South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, New Mexico, Wyoming, and Virginia. So far, two reports of customers requiring oral surgery after eating the product have surfaced, according to news reports.

Peanut Butter Recall Expanded by Justin’s

Justin’s expanded a voluntary recall on peanut butter products due to a potential contamination with Salmonella, which could lead to a fatal infection. Symptoms include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Justin’s other products, including almond butter and candy bars, are not included in this recall. Fresca Foods was notified regarding this recall. They were distributed across the country in grocery stores from 2010 and 2012. Products included in this recall are natural honey peanut butter jars, squeeze packs, jars, and peanut butter cups, according to news reports. Items were distributed through the Starbucks Protein Bistro Box. 29 people have reported illnesses matching the salmonella contamination from peanut butter in 18 states altogether, including Louisiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, and Maryland. Those who purchased any peanut butters included in this recall are urged to return them immediately.

The product was distributed from 7/23/2012 to 09/07/2012 in Sam’s Club centers in CA, MO, OK, TX, UT, and WY. The Winn-Dixie company recalled products today that were produced by the Renaissance Food Group because these products might contain mango.The fruit was said to have been contaminated with the bacteria salmonella. The bacteria can cause serious illness and be fatal to children to and the elderly. The products in question have a sell by date that reads 8/31/12 or 9/01/12.
