Ford Announces Serious Problems with Escape

Approximately 485,000 Ford Escape vehicles are being recalled because the gas pedal could stick. Investigators started looking into the problem a week ago, and the recall was issued soon thereafter because the problem could lead to a collision. If a driver were to hit the gas pedal, the cables may stick to the engine cover, which can lead to the vehicle speeding without stopping. There have been over 60 complaints including 13 collisions. “This is not a situation where the engine would accelerate or go into a wide-open state on its own,” Ford spokeswoman Marcey Zwiebel said. This is the third recall of a Ford Excape SUV as of late, according to news reports. We highly recommend using caution until this issue is resolved

Transmission Problems Lead to Recalls

The 2011-2012 Ford F150, Expedition, Mustang and Lincoln Navigators have all been recalled because they are not meeting requirements for their transmissions. They may have Transmission Range Sensors, specifically, that don’t meet federal requirements. The consequence is that they may not go into reverse when the consumer places the gear shift in reverse. They may have other issues relating to their reverse, including not lighting up the interior sensor signaling that they are in reverse, according to news reports.
