There is an increase in fires every holiday season due to dry trees, lights, space heaters, and candles. They set the scene up outside a public safety center, complete with a tree decorated with ornaments, garlands, and with presents underneath. It only took two minutes for fire to completely consume the tree, according to news reports. Officials said they didn’t want to discourage people from buying live trees, rather they want to encourage safety and prevent injuries and deaths from fires.
