A 20-year-old under the influence of drugs crashed into a marked Cumberland police cruiser conducting traffic enforcement. The officer was taken to Western Maryland Regional Medical Health Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, then discharged through the night. The suspect was also brought to a hospital for treatment. He was discharged following medical analysis. Preliminary investigations revealed the officer was sitting inside his vehicle when he was hit by the Nissan Altima. He lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the roadway, hitting the concrete median. He was trapped inside his vehicle before the Cumberland Fire Department could rescue him, according to news reports.
