The recalled products contain peeled yellow onions that may be contaminated with the bacteria Listeria Monocytogenes. Busch’s has not received any report of illnesses related to the onions. The bacterium causes food poisoning which is very dangerous to the very old, the very young and those with immune issues. San Miguel Produce, Inc. Recalls Comfort Greens Kit

San Miguel Produce is recalling their green kit because of possible contamination of onions in that kit. This is a followup action of a recall made my Gills Onions who produces the onion in their kit. There is a possible contamination of a bacteria that is a harmful, especially to people with weakened immune systems, like children and the elderly. Perhaps this bacteria is more harmful to unborn babies as it can cause miscarriages and still births in pregnant women.

Onions and Celery Recalled

A voluntary recall of packaged onions and celery was expanded due to concerns about Listeria contamination. There haven’t been any illnesses relating to the recall, according to the Food and Drug Administration. The products include dice, whole-peeled and silvered onions and with a diced onion and celery mix. They were shipped to several states throughout the United States. The recall is under investigation by the company Gills Onions LLC along with the FDA, according to news reports.

One Lot of Diced Red Onions Recalled

Diced red onions available under the brand name of “Gills” have been recalled due to possible Listeria contamination. The use by date for these onions was in mid May of 2012 and no one has reported illness at this time. Remember that Listeria is particularly dangerous to the young, elderly and unborn. “The recalled diced red onions were distributed directly from Gills Onions to retailers in Canada and retailers and foodservice distributors in California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Idaho, Texas, Illinois, Michigan, Arkansas, Ohio, Tennessee, New Jersey, Georgia, and Florida,” according to news reports.
