Driver Rear-Ends Truck, Veers off Highway

A woman from Sioux City was looking through her purse while driving and rear ended a truck causing it to roll off of the interstate near a construction zone where people were attempting to slow down. The accident ended up causing a half hour delay. Both parties involved in the crash did not suffer any major injuries but were hospitalized.

Tractor-Trailer Driver Charged for Recklessness

A tractor-trailer fire led to the closure of I-64. The wreck happened when the truck hit another truck inside a work zone and they overturned and burst into flames. A passerby luckily freed the driver who was stuck inside the vehicle. He was treated for minor injuries. According to police, he was reaching for a water bottle at the time of the wreck. The other truck driver was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The truck driver was charged with reckless driving and all lanes of I-64 were shut-down in order to clean up diesel fuel that spilled at the crash scene, according to news reports.

Box Truck Driver Crashes into Prius

A box truck driver was charged after they crossed two lanes of I-95 and collided with a Toyota Prius. Police believe fatigue was a factor in the wreck, which happened around 5pm. The box truck driver was heading southbound in the right lane when they suddenly veered across the center line, causing both cars to run off the left side of the roadway. The box truck overturned after hitting a guardrail. The Prius driver and his wife were brought to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The truck driver, who wore his seatbelt, was also treated for injuries and charged for reckless driving, according to news reports.

Driver Collides with Tractor-Trailer

A man involved in a deadly crash was suspected of being distracting while driving his vehicle, as he met his end as he went into the path of a tractor trailer. His vehicle connected head on into a semi tank trucker. Police chief is trying to figure out what caused this crash, as speeding and alcohol were not factors in the accident.

Tractor-Trailer Overturns, Closing Bypass

A tractor-trailer wreck caused the Hampstead Bypass to shut-down. Officials recently announced it was re-opened after several hours. The wreck happened when a truck overturned and the gas tank began leaking on the Hapstead Bypass. Police re-routed drivers through Business Route 30 and the town of Hampstead, according to news reports.

Tractor-Trailer Spills Cucumbers on Beltway

A tractor overturned Tuesday morning and spilled cucumbers onto the Beltway. The wreck happened when a Ford Fusion driver crashed into a truck around 8am on the inner loop, which caused the truck to run the tractor off the roadway. The cucumbers spilled across the roadway and closed all but one lane for about an hour and a half. The truck driver was taken to the Inova Fairfax Hospital for treatment of injuries. The Ford driver is being charged for making an improper lane change, according to news reports.

Pickup Truck Driver Collides Head-On

A Virginia man was killed in a collision in East Hampton, New York. The 51-year-old was killed when a driver of a pickup truck crossed over the center line of traffic and crashed into his vehicle head-on. He was brought to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck and his wife and daughter were treated for serious injuries. No charges have been filed yet, and police continue to interview witnesses, according to news reports.

Driver Collides with Tractor-Trailer

A 73-year-old collided with a tractor-trailer in Patrick County recently. The wreck happened Monday afternoon around 5pm when she drove into the path of a truck while crossing Route 640 and 58. The truck collided into her vehicle and she was killed at the scene of the wreck. Authorities said she wore a seat belt at the time of the collision. The 50-year-old was treated for minor injuries. He wore a seat belt during the wreck, as well. Virginia State Police and the Accident Reconstruction Team are currently investigating the wreck, according to news reports.

Beer Truck Overturns on I-270

A beer truck overturned along Interstate 270 close to Hyattstown, Maryland. Vehicles were re-routed around the accident using the Route 109 interchange after sudsy beer backed up traffic around 9am. The wreck happened after the tractor-trailer hauling beer overturned after hitting some debris in the roadway around 4am. Hundreds of cans of beer spilled over the roadway, and liquid spilled onto the roadway. A fuel tank rupture led authorities to call out a haz-mat team to control the spread of dangerous flammable liquid, according to news reports.

Truck Wreck Under Investigation

In Utah, a one car accident may have been caused by distracted driving or alcohol, but is still under investigation. A truck with three passengers rolled after a swerve and an over-correction, and three patients were flown from the scene. The driver is in critical condition, with the two passengers in serious and fair condition.
