Blankets Recalled for Overheating Battery

Approximately 4,200 BrightLight blankets were recalled concerning an overheating battery, which could lead to a burn hazard. The products have LE lights that change color. So far, there have been four reported incidences involving overheating. One customer reported a minor burn. Customers are urged to stop using the blankets immediately and get in touch with IdeaVillage for a free replacement of the product, which was sold online between July and August 2012, according to news reports.

Banana Burnt Warns Customers to Avoid Aerosol Sunscreens

23 sunscreen products were recalled by Energizer Holdings, Banana Boat’s parent company, because five people caught on fire after using the aerosol sunscreen then coming into contact with flames or sparks. A website was recently launched called Banana Burnt which warns consumers about the risk of aerosol sunscreens, and how to avoid an injury. The problem with Banana Boat’s aerosol products involved the time it took for the product to dry on the skin, and the possibility of a customer’s skin burning if they came into contact with flames, such as a barbecue, while the sunscreen was still wet, according to news reports.

Bird Seed Recalled for Contamination

Bird and small animal feed is being recalled by Wildwood Seed due to containing raw in-shell peanuts that may be contaminated with salmonella. There have not been any illnesses reported as of yet, however the company announced the recall as a precaution. The store distributed its products to stores throughout Oregon and Washington in plastic bags and paper bags. The original recall by Sunland, Inc. was announced in late September and included many peanut and nut butters, according to news reports.

Fitness Equipment Recalled

40,000 units of the Fitness Anywhere Suspension Trainer Devices, which cost between $150 and $200, have been recalled. The strap length-adjustment buckles might break, which could lead to a fall. Consumers are urged to stop using the product and to contact Fitness Anywhere so they can get a replacement TRX Suspension Trainer device

GE Recalls Front Load Washers

In line with this, GE has just announced that it’s recalling about 62,000 front loading washing machines due to a defect that can cause injuries to its users. Over 65,300 Rayovac NI-CD and Rayovac NI-MH Cordless Tool Battery Packs are being recalled by BatteryPlus Inc. The battery packs which are replacements for tools can suddenly explode and cause serious injury to a person.There has been three reports of injuries so far and the company is asking all who own these battery packs to return them right away. Defective Blender Leads to Lawsuit

A defective blender was the result of a lawsuit, but it was failure to report the faulty kitchen appliance that made it a problem. Now the Haier America Trading has agreed to pay a large sum of $850,000 to fix the problem and for not reporting the problem in the first place. In 2009 CPSC had to recall nearly 54,000 blenders due to the faulty equipment.

Ambulances Recalled for Possible Injury

SJC Industries has issued a recall on 2012 McCoy-Miller and Marque ambulances manufactured between last November and August. It has been reported that certain of the vehicles’ box mounting bolts were not torqued properly and may fall off of the ambulance, potentially causing the compartment box to detach and cause injury to passengers. SJC is seeking to notify affected owners and issue a free repair.

Blind Xpress of Livonia Michigan announced a recall of 39,000 custom-made vertical and 315,000 horizontal blinds manufactured in 2009 due to the strangulation of a 2-year old girl from Commerce Township. The vertical blinds have an adjustment cord that forms a loop not attached to the wall or floor, although some have a weighted device, and the horizontal blinds do not have inner stop devices preventing accessible inner cords from being pulled out allowing a child to possibly become entangled.
