Push Back Chairs Recalled for Fall Hazard

American Signature Inc. recalled more than 2,000 Hayward reclining chairs because the chair can tip over when being used in the fully reclined position.

This could cause the person in the chair to fall and get injured. There have not been any incidents reported. The chairs were sold at American Signature Furniture and Value City Furniture stores from June through August. The recall involves 2,158 or so chairs.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the chairs and return them for a store credit in the amount paid for the chair. The manufacturer is contacting customers directly.

Highchairs Recalled Due to Fall Hazard

90,000 Graco Classic Wood Highchairs are being recalled because the seats may detach from the wooden base. This presents a potential fall hazard for infants, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. Dozens of baby high chair models are being tested as part of the high chair rating evaluation. Customers shopping for high chairs are urged to “Push contenders around to see how well they hold their ground. A chair should feel stable and sturdy, not wobbly. Look for a high chair with a wide base for stability.” 58 reports of seats loosening or detaching from the base have been received so far, including 9 cases of a child falling. Customers are urged to contact the company immediately for a repair kit, according to news reports. The product was sold across the country at Target, Walmart, and Babies R Us between 2007 and 2010.

Generator Users Warned of Dangers

The United States Fire Administration and the U.S. consumer product safety commission is urging generator users to be careful while using their generators after the expected power outages due to hurricane Issac. If installed or used indoors, there can be a very harmful or even fatal build up of carbon monoxide gas. If using a generator, be sure to store it outside in a well ventilated area.

Wheelchair Lift Problems Lead to Recall

Wheelchair lift manufacturer Mobilityworks is recalling some 2006-2010 Ford E-Series vehicles equipped with their wheelchair lifts. The roll stops on the lifts fail with frequent use, creating a fall hazard. Mobilityworks is contacting the affected customers, and will replace the wheelchair lifts for no cost at authorized Braun dealers. Vans Recalled for Unsafe Wheelchair Lifts

This is a recall report for Ford E-Series Vans manufactured by Quality Van Services. NHTSA Campaign ID number 12V433000, dated 9/10/12. Quality Van Sales, Inc. is recalling 2006-2010 Ford E-series vehicles equipped with Braun Century-2 or Vista-2 wheelchair lifts due to roll stop latches becoming misaligned over time, potentially causing injury. Kaufman Trailers Recalled

The 2011 Kaufman Flatbed, Manufactured by Kaufman Trailers, Inc. is being recalled. There are potentially 302 affected units. Models that have been equipped with 10,000 pound electric oil bath axles can be problematic. Specifically, leakage can occur if the wheel end caps on the oil bath axles crack. This can cause wheel bearing failure, and perhaps a crash. Kaufman is going to contact owners of the product so that the affected parts can be replaced for free.

Altec Industries, Incorporated has announced that they are recalling 27 of their 2008 to 2009 Aerial Device vehicles. They are recalling these vehicles because improper welding processes were used on the boom pivot pins and could cause the boom to separate from the turntable and cause someone to be injured.

Baltimore Police on Patrol

The Labor day weekend will bring friends an fun an with all that comes drinking and driving. The Baltimore police have reported that they will be on patrol on for the weekend and will be stopping all who appear to have been drinking. More than 15,000 people were involved in alcohol related accidents and over 3,000 have died in the past several years because of it. Police are out trying to protect those that are just enjoying their holiday and don’t have to be inconvenienced by those who care not to follow the law.

Respironics Recalls Ventilators

Respironics California, Inc., announced today that it has recalled 116 of its Respironics V60 Ventilators.
A division of Phillips Healthcare, the company said the reason for the recall came after they discovered that they needed to address a manufacturing issue within the product.
Two reports of blower failures have been called into the company since the product’s inception. But no one was reported injured at press time.
