Joseph Garland is a litigation attorney at Greenberg & Bederman, LLC. He has represented individual clients and businesses in federal and state courts in diverse cases in multiple jurisdictions.
In medical malpractice, he has represented many of the most prominent hospitals and medical practices in the Washington, D.C. area. He has also represented patients who have been injured by medical negligence.
In business matters, he has represented major construction companies in the capitol area as well as in south Florida. He has assisted entrepreneurs in obtaining financing. In association with other law firms, he was part of the team that litigated the Maryland portion of a nation-wide class action against non-bank lenders that violated state lending laws.
He has litigated mass tort claims in Maryland, Washington, D.C., Texas, Mississippi, and West Virginia. Mr. Garland has represented an estimated one thousand claimants in Social Security disability proceedings around the nation and makes this a major component of his current practice.
He has briefed and argued multiple appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and before the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland. He is a member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States and is licensed to practice in Maryland and Washington, D.C.
In law school, he was elected chairman of the Honor Board. He has completed the advanced trial advocacy course through the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.
